The doll-size man
In comic books and illustration, artists frequently depict persons on video screens three-dimensionally as if they are actually inside the TV. A more accurate rendition would show the televised person drawn to match the flat perspective of the video screen. I asked established comic book artist Bob McLeod about this convention. He kindly replied that it's usually a result of expedience and aesthetics. If an image is drawn straight on like a mug shot and then pinned in perspective to the TV screen, the image looks "glued on." The correct way to do it would be to create an image in perspective and then recalculate the perspective again for the video screen. But McLeod states that tight deadlines in the comic book world make it "more trouble than it's worth." Above is an unknown mid-century image.
