Symbolism!

Just in case you missed the previous scene in which the title character has sex with a woman, kills her, splatters her blood all over her room and then chops off her fingers, director Richard Stanley underscores the character's evil nature by having him pose in front of a mounted animal skull. And just in case you miss this shot, the character goes back into the house and sets it on fire with gasoline turning it into a hellish inferno. From Dust Devil (1992).
